Hello and Happy Monday!
This week's post is about learning how to crochet. If you have ever tried to learn but got frustrated, you are not alone. Crochet... and knitting ... are simply ways of learning to twist string to create designs and shapes. With crochet, you use a hook. These hooks come in a variety of sizes, aka thicknesses. Depending on whether you are working with a very thin string or a bulky string, the size of your hook gets adjusted. You may want to start out with a thicker yarn and a thicker hook, as it is easier to hold in your hands. Once you get the feel for working stitches, you can then play around with thinner yarns and hooks. Do be patient with yourself. Start with a simple project, such as a scarf, and once you see how things are progressing, you will be able to create a number of awesome items.
Here is a link to a YouTube video on crocheting for beginners. It is a short video; you can pause it, restart, and pause as many times as needed. How to Crochet for Absolute Beginners: Episode Onehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GcOzdAzmtNM&t=53s. Thank you, Bella Coco.
This YouTube video has additional episodes, so you can continue learning crochet. Be sure to sign up and continue the adventure.
Life Hacks
With warmer weather upon us, it is easy to have dry cuticles. Love polish? Unfortunately, that can add to the problem. Use a type of chapstick, preferably one with beeswax, to smooth over cuticles. The beeswax sticks to skin more easily and lasts longer, and helps soften and heal cracked skin. Plus, it's a cheaper option than any fancy cuticle cream.
